After the end of WorldWar II, Picasso began to spend more and more time in the Cote dAzur, revisiting the Mediterranean sources tha t had inspired him in earlier years. Picassos return to the south also marked a vibrant renewal in his family and social life, and this abundance of inspiration fed new ambitious work in the studio. Besides painting some of his most challenging works, in the 1950 s Picasso evolutionized sculpture and ceramics and pushed his boundaries in lithography and other graphic techniques.
